Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage suitable for everybody? The answer is yes.
You don't have to suffer from a particular medical condition (always check with your GP if you are in doubt) to benefit from the relaxation and detoxification effects of Manual Lymphatic Drainage. This technique can potentially act as an incentive to lose weight and improve sleep as it works extremely gently, but has long-lasting calming and rebalancing effects on the central nervous system.
Lymphatic drainage was developed by doctor Voder and his wife in year 1930. Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a gentle technique, which effects on lymphatic system.
Lymphatic drainage works by activating blood circulation in tissues and stimulates the immune and parasympathetic nervous system.
The results of this operation are shown in particular reduction of oedema, body detox, restoring tissues (burns, cuts, scars, wrinkles), it removes a number of chronically and half- acute inflammation (sinusitis, bronchitis and ear infections), eliminates chronically pain, reduce symptoms of chronic fatigue, eliminates excessive muscle tension, and more.
We could gain a good benefits in overcoming insomnia, stress, lack of vitality and a bad memory, but it also slows down aging and helps to remove cellulite tissue. A well functioning lymphatic system is essential for human health and its effectiveness. This system is discharging liquid, detoxifies and renews tissue, strain out toxins and foreign substances and helps to achieve a healthy immune system. If the lymphatic system does not work the best, toxins in the body begins to accumulate, cell function is compromised, which can lead to physical problems (diseases).
In lymphatic drainage is advisable to have ten therapies, which should be carried out daily or at least every other day. Some sometimes need more treatments to react, others less. Some patients feel sleepy right after treatment (because it affects the nervous system), others were awakened and refreshed immediately after treatment. Immediately after (especially if its done well) it is possible, that you will feel need to discharge water. This is a normal consequence of removing of surplus fluids and toxins from the body.
There's no cure for lymphoedema, but it's usually possible to control the main symptoms using techniques to minimise fluid build-up and stimulate the flow of fluid through the lymphatic system.
These include wearing compression garments, taking good care of your skin, moving and exercising regularly, having a healthy diet and lifestyle, and using specialised massage techniques.
See your GP if you experience the typical symptoms of lymphoedema, such as swelling in your arms and legs. They may refer you to a specialist lymphoedema treatment centre for further assessment. In many cases, lymphoedema can be diagnosed from your symptoms and medical history, and by examining the affected body part and measuring the distance around it to see if it's enlarged. Occasionally, further tests may be necessary to assess and monitor your condition.
